Recite is different and complex itself so it probably just lacks power not side-effects nor complexity.Yeah, I had been meaning to make a new FR about that. He only accepts prayers when he's not in a foul mood, or ignoring you. That should do well.

This would be the opposite attitude of Xom who is interested in combat and wildly entertained by your hinderance and death. Part of my proposal is that you're just an ordinary dungeon dweller and you become a god by people believing in you.

- Like the rest of the gods. And a much smaller piety gain (fixed at 2) for levelling a skill.I'm also thinking that his more powerful Redesign ability can be restricted to only function at his altars. Zin is good as an inwardly-directed, neutral force. I'm not entirely sold on the losing piety for killing intelligent monsters anyway.

Aristar suffers important mood swings. He will never randomly become happy though. Be careful, though, that players won't try on every armour they find to "identify" its plusses, or every weapon to "identify" its brand.jpeg: Actually, I just tested on shops following your advice, and it's not doing it. Only when the KNOWN flag is set, and only if it wasn't already set. Give it a read and let me know what you think. If you pacified someone then it is most meaninglessly weak humanoid on that level. If it gave piety for success at its current power then optimal would be to recite to kobolds, goblins and plain orcs (no XP from these anyway, Zin hates if you eat their meat and 7 from 8 are successfully affected). It may gain a few randart bonuses, and some enchantment. Ignored occurs when you use any of his active abilities - Aristar does not approve of constantly seeking help, he expects his students to take the initiative.

Ideas and feedback are very much welcome. There have been some Zin/Recite discussions before if you need ideas and feedback around these ideas ( see for example FR 2817665).

There's a constant random chance every turn (very low) that his mood will shift closer to Indifferent again, his default mood. I'm concerned the Redesign is too powerful, what do you think?

Don't know. The last ability gained, allows you to reconstruct any item in your inventory. A status similar to Warding should be bestowed upon those of high piety. I'm considering doing the same for identifying items, but since I hacked it into set_ident_type with some clever coding, i'm a little concerned the message will appear at weird places in the display. Collect cards, discover new strategy and build powerful decks as you progress through the adventure. I like it much better than the old one. Effects chosen from paralysis, confusion, or a smite attack.

You could either use a boolean to control the latter or only use the wrapper where piety gain is wanted. ;-)Brian, did I get it right over there? Perhaps we can salvage the idea in some other way?An attempt to salvage the idea: Echo recite from monsters. If Recite pacifies a monster to neutral, then that monster stays in its place until it leaves line of sight of you.

For instance, asking you to recite to a particular number of creatures on the current level, or improving a particular skill that you have. He is, after all, a very fickle instructor.

As such, Zin should grant piety for gaining a level, or maximizing a skill. [1] Video games which predominantly feature dungeon crawl elements are … The spreading recite would be lot of code and effect of it would be questionable or confusing (so you pacified a kobold and after a while hasted ogre or troll runs in). Can target weapons, armour, jewellery, wands and rods. I'd like to see Aristar changed to the point wherepoop: I agree. Dungeon Tales is a turn-based roguelike RPG strategy card game. The shifting mood is proving to be an interesting mechanism, as piety has been translated to a sort of 'respect' with the diety, while the mood allows him to be angry but still respect your progress.

Owner: nobody Labels: None Priority: 5 Updated: 2009-12-07 Created: 2009-08-13 Creator: Anonymous Private: No At the moment Zin is a little behind . Join forces with two of your fellow Gods and journey to the town of Hercopolis for an RPG-style dungeon crawl …

If recitation fails, the hostile will attack the pacified creature (NOT you). I think i'll count Redesign as a 'requested gift' and influence the gift_timer for it.
