Personally I would go with Yamato, but thats just because I always wanted one.

I've got the old Otaki version of the BB-62 and despite what the box art depicts as a post-war or modern iteration with bow mounted Discone antenna, it appears to build into a June 1945 version with enlarged mast on the after stack and SC-1 Seahawk floatplanes (and with all AA guns intact). Detail was lacking where it should have been very obvious too. And then, they give an opportunity to superdetail.

The Revell Bismarck is superb and with the BMK barrels, WE, GMM and Eduard etch you are on a winner. There were always fit problems, regardless of manufacturer. I don't know if its petroleum or transportation prices or what, but this hobby is getting way more expensive than in the past. Hopefully there's no serious dimensional differences in GMM, Eduard or White Ensign PE that were intended for the Tamiya kits that would prevent, say, the 40mm gun tub ammo racks from working on the Otaki kit? I already had the decks finished and I wasn’t about to ruin all that work. I am looking at picking up a 1/350 Bismarck.

What is your take on them? It’s a story of honor, courage, fate and luck that played out in such a way as to be the most famous legend of the life and death of a ship of war ever to be told. And so it was with this story in the back of my mind that I first saw that White Ensign Models was about to release an “Ultimate Bismarck” photo etched detail set and I knew I had to build another. The only problem I found is with the hanger doors.

Inside the hull the nuts for the bolts are secured with craft (Popsicle) sticks cut to hold the nut in place and glued down with epoxy. In this way it’s easy to mount the hull on a “work board” for construction then easily transfer it to the finished base once the majority of the construction is finished.
